01 — Identify the Task

  • Task is repeated more than twice a month
  • Explaining it takes more than ten minutes
  • You can finish: "This skill does ___" in twelve words

02 — Output Standard

  • Three to five real reference outputs collected
  • Structure, length, tone, format written down
  • Patterns across examples noted as the standard

03 — Gather Knowledge

  • Methodology file written (how you do it)
  • Voice file written (how it sounds)
  • Templates file written (recurring structures)
  • No-gos file written (what never happens)

04 — Write Instructions

  • Numbered steps, one to three sentences each
  • Each step: what, with what input, what output
  • Vague verbs replaced with concrete criteria
  • Decisions come with selection criteria

05 — Live Test

  • Three runs, three different real inputs
  • Output compared against the standard
  • Every gap noted: knowledge or instruction?

06 — Package

  • Decision made: Skill or Project
  • Files / automation / power use → Skill
  • Browser-only team use → Project

07 — Iterate

  • Output slipped twice in a row → iterate
  • One change at a time
  • Test with same input before and after
  • Version stamped in the skill file
